Shampoo and Conditioner
Allow me to make this really simple for you. Why would you want to use cheap shampoo and waxy conditioners on your hair, when you are hopefully spending your good money on a great cut and color? Use Shampoo for Chemically treated hair. I recommend it for colored, permed, dry or fragile hair. I prefer using a chemically treated mild detergent on everyone. The PH is lower and it really does make a difference in the colors staying fresher longer, perm curls staying longer, and overall moisture not being depleted thru drying your hair and the natural elements. I basically recommend it for all hair types. Protect your investment in your hair with quality Shampoos, Conditioners, and styling products. Make sure your styling products have minimal or no alcohol to avoid dry hair.

Mousse
This is a nice product for root lift. Try to find one with a minimum amount of alcohol. The Alcohol in any product will dry the hair if used excessively. I like the mousse because it disburses evenly, and the roots get what they need to create volume during the drying process.

Hair Spray
I recommend a light hair spray that you can still run your hands and brushes thru while styling. Something light with little or no alcohol. A light aerosol is OK but a pump is usually lower in alcohol if dryness is a concern. The downside to a pump spray is that it is wetter when applied, so it might be better to spray in moderation.

Silicone
This is a great styling product and it appears oily to the touch but will disappear after you apply and it dries in your hair. You can even add a little after it's dry. Don't use too much to start and increase a little at a time. You don't want to have to wash your hair again. This is one of the best frizz removers. Redken Glass is a very good silicone that I recommend.

Thermal Straightener
A thermal straightener is excellent for getting curly hair straight and keeping it that way. Keeping the excess moisture out of the hair and keeping your hair straight longer and not reverting back to your natural curl is what this product does. This is especially helpful if you are in a humid climate, live near the ocean or a large body of water. You can purchase a thermal straightener at your near by beauty supply, and cocktail it with a silicone product for shine, if desired.

Spray Wax
This can be used to help smooth the hair during styling with a flat iron or straightening with a blow-dryer/nozzle and round brush.

Matt or Shine Wax
Wax is a great smoother for the hair. Start with a little and add as you go. You don't want your hair to be gummy and have to wash it again. It comes in different consistencies. You will have to see what works best for the desired look you want to achieve.
